My style!

Image
This is my last blog. Since my major is actually Fashion Design. I will post styles that I want to mimic. Last year, for my birthday I wanted to make this outfit I seen online by Angel Brinks. Her clothing line is cute and unique but some items are extremely expensive. So I wanted to create an outfit like the one I seen. I understand that her clothing is customized so that may be the reason for the pricing. However, I'm rusty with sewing. I have not sewn anything in years and I get so nervous. I have a sewing machine that's just collecting dust (smh). Since I am rusty I thought of just starting small like sewing on iron on patches. But now I don't know what to sew them on. So next semester I plan on taking the sewing class to get rid of these jitters I have and dive right in! This is the outfit I am trying to mimic. Hopefully it can be a success! :) No clue what to put these patches on. But I LOVE them! Patches were bought on Etsy.c...

Mother's Day

Image
Every year my mom hits me twice in the same week. Her birthday and Mothers' Day all in the same week. Now that I have kids I split the days up lol. I'll get her something from the kids for her birthday and something from me on Mother's Day. This weeks blog will be dedicated to Mother's Day. Some wants to get dressed up and go out some just want to lounge all day. Whichever style you or your mom prefers there's a style for it! Happy Mother's Day to you and yours from another Mother!

Birthday party for her

Image
Lately I've been going crazy planning my mom's 50th birthday party. Her theme is Gatsby. The Great Gatsby theme parties have been on the rise ever since the movie I believe and even more since Kris Jenner did her birthday party as well. I've always like the theme but let's just say it;'s a bit overwhelming since it's also Prom season. Lol. Being that I am my moms only child of course I want the best and I want everything to be right. The problem is when I plan parties I go all out! My youngest Paw Patrol Pawty to Super Hero and my oldest Super Mario party to Jay-Opoly (Monopoly) it's a lot. I blame pinterest! Pinterest has all the ideas. I normally make everything for my parties from decorations to the cake smh. The Gatsby theme is easy and elegant to pull off. Like I said the dress is a bit hard because it's prom season. My mom is by far my hardest "client". She wants a dress that's a showstopper. She wants to be sexy but yet everythi...

Happy Easter!

Image
Everyone's home eating good today for Easter. I personally feel like Easter may have been the first Holiday were parents decided to dress alike. To dress your kids alike I love Children's Place, Old Navy and Wal-Mart. These stores obviously understand that parents (mom's particularly) loves to dress their children alike and provides the same style in a wider range of sizes. Last time me and my kids took pictures for Easter was 3 years ago. I found their outfits in Wal-Mart. I was so amazed that they had my little one size and my oldest size in the same style! My kids are 6 years apart so I love it when I can shop for them at the same store. I feel like I hit the Jackpot! Of course that's no longer the case but anyways, these are the outfits for the day. :) Edited by: Ashley Houston

Autumn/Winter 19/20

Image
This weeks Blog is looking at the predictions of Autumn/Winter fashion color trends.  These seasons aren't particularly my favorite because they're not bright colorful seasons. However, since it seems at times we're jumping into summer rather than spring wouldn't hurt to think of the fashion trends coming. According to Pantone the fashion I suggested is according to NY's Fashion Week colors for Autumn/Winter.  Autumn is often colors like amber, burnt orange and dark reds like the colors the leaves change to around this season. The pinkish shade I seen on the website was interesting. I personally wear pink all year round since it's my favorite color but never thought for it be considered a color for Autumn/Winter. Baby Fever!

Image
This week we welcomed a new family member to our family. I've only been blessed to have boys. Which I find extremely hard to shop for. It's no fun shopping for boys. So with our new addition I went overboard as everyone says because it's a girl! Shopping for girls is so much fun! They have a wide range to pick from. So I guess I'll dedicate this blog to the Little Princesses. Growing up where colors determines the gender is no longer the case. I know a lot of people tend to ignore the patterns and colors when they're infants. No matter how hard a mother tries someone will always ask "how old is she?" When she is actually a he! How can you not enjoy shopping for a little girl?

90's Fashion Cartoon style

Image
Growing up thinking whatever I knew was something new just to learn that my mom wast doing the same thing at my age is the funniest thing. I now find myself doing the same thing with my children. The thing I find myself doing most is asking my kids "What is this?" to every show they decided to watch. Lol! I can only imagine my how my mom looked at the things I've watched or listened to at a young age compared to her younger days. So this weeks fashion will be inspired 90s Nickelodeon fashion. I loved to watch Looney Tunes, Rugrats, Doug, All That and everything else that played around that time. Many cartoon inspired fashion can be found on Etsy.com and some major designers incorporate it within their fashion as well.
